Metro seeks men involved in purse snatching

Metro robbery detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying two suspected purse snatchers. According to police, two men approached a woman in the parking lot of a business near the intersection of Serene and Eastern avenues on July 3. The men grabbed the shopper’s purse with enough force to cause her to fall to the ground.

Juvenile competency statute proposed for Nevada

Nevada currently lacks a statute to address competency issues among juveniles. Officials have used adult criminal procedures as a guide instead, said Susan Roske, an attorney with the Clark County juvenile public defender’s office.

Henderson man pleads guilty in helicopter laser strikes

James Zipf, 30, of Henderson admitted in federal court Thursday that he pointed a laser at Las Vegas police helicopters earlier this year. Zipf pleaded guilty to one of six felony counts. The other counts will be thrown out as part of a plea agreement.

Pedestrian hit, critically injured near Desert Inn and Maryland Parkway

A pedestrian was in critical condition after being hit by a car Monday afternoon, Las Vegas police say. The collision happened just after 4 p.m. near Desert Inn Road and Maryland Parkway. The pedestrian was suffering critical injuries and was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, police reported.
