Navajo monument offers archaeological history

A visit to Canyon de Chelly National Monument is a feast for the eyes and soul. There, you will find sheer red sandstone cliffs rising 1,000 feet above the fertile farmland of the canyons, where prehistoric Ancestral Puebloan ruins and hundreds of other archaeological sites dot the landscape. People have lived there nearly 5,000 years; it is believed to be the longest continuous occupancy of any site on the Colorado Plateau.

Springs Preserve to host breastfeeding resource fair Aug. 9

August is National Breastfeeding Month, and Naturally Nurturing, a breastfeeding community fair, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Springs Preserve, during World Breastfeeding Week. The free family event is set to include information booths, refreshments, infant massage, Gymboree play time, face painting, giveaways and more.

Back-to-school immunization clinics planned through August
