Pedestrian critical after being struck, dragged by car
One man was in critical condition after being dragged by a car for 1.2 miles Tuesday morning, Las Vegas police said.
Police responded just before 4 a.m. to the 900 block of Sierra Vista Drive, near Maryland Parkway and Desert Inn Road.
A 51-year-old woman driving a 2013 Dodge Avenger left an ATM at Nevada State Bank, 3345 S. Maryland Parkway, about 3 a.m., apparently running over a man in the parking lot, according to Sgt. Richard Strader with Metro’s fatal traffic detail.
Police believe the 22-year-old man may have been laying on the ground.
She dragged him around the corner before she heard screaming, Strader said, and then stopped on Sierra Vista Drive. The driver and citizens in the area called 911 for the trapped pedestrian.
The pedestrian was freed from the underside of the Dodge by paramedics from the Clark County Fire Department and sent to University Medical Center with critical injuries.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene, and police did not suspect she was impaired by drugs or alcohol.
Sierra Vista Drive was still closed at 8 a.m. between Cambridge and Swenson streets while police investigated.
