Pedestrian killed in crash at Tropicana-Decatur intersection
A pedestrian was killed Tuesday morning after a van drove onto a sidewalk in central Las Vegas.
The crash happened at 6:50 a.m. near Decatur Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue, when a 2017 Chevrolet Express Van drove off the roadway and plowed into a 56-year-old man and at least two light poles, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The pedestrian died at the site of the crash. He will be identified by the Clark County coroner once his family has been notified. His death marked the 10th traffic-related fatality investigated by Metro this year.
The 53-year-old van driver was transported to University Medical Center with injuries that weren’t life-threatening. Traffic investigators determined impairment did not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remained under investigation Tuesday afternoon.
