‘Person of interest’ detained in central Las Vegas Valley slaying

Las Vegas police are investigating a man's body found lying on a central valley street early Wednesday morning.

Police responded about 1:40 a.m. Wednesday to the 5400 block of Holmby Avenue, near Charleston Boulevard and Lindell Road, where they found the dead man, Metro supervisor Lt. David Gordon said. The man appeared to have been stabbed, and his vehicle was found nearby.

Earlier in the day, Metro Lt. Dan McGrath said a man had been arrested in connection to the slaying, adding that police think he knew the dead man.

But just before 3 p.m., a Metro spokesman said "a person of interest was detained, however an arrest was not made."

Additional information was not immediately available. Neither man's identity was released.
