Police: Ex-student pilot steals plane from North Las Vegas Airport
May 2, 2015 - 7:07 pm
A former student pilot was arrested after stealing an airplane from the North Las Vegas Airport early Saturday morning, police said.
Evan Grant, 27, was arrested Saturday and booked into the Las Vegas city jail on a charge of grand larceny auto, according to the North Las Vegas Police Department.
Many details were not immediately available, but multiple jurisdictions were involved in the investigation, Aaron Patty, spokesman for North Las Vegas police, said Saturday.
Authorities were called shortly after midnight about a plane being stolen, Patty said. It wasn’t clear how long Grant, a former North Las Vegas airport student pilot, flew the plane, but he was talked into landing it.
A McCarran International Airport spokeswoman on Saturday said she could not provide further details, citing an ongoing investigation.
