Police looking for suspect in fight that led to death

Las Vegas police are asking for the public’s help in finding the suspect in a Saturday night fight that led to a death, Metro announced Sunday.

Officers were flagged down about 7:10 p.m. Saturday by citizens in the 4300 block of North Nellis Boulevard, near East Craig Road, who said there had been a fight in the desert area behind a convenience store, according to a Metro press release Sunday afternoon.

Police found a man lying in a bush behind the business. Medical personnel responded and the male was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.

Investigation indicates that the suspect police are looking for was inside the Green Valley Grocery when he saw someone possibly taking something from the suspect’s white Ford Ranger pickup, the release said.

The suspect chased the male into the open desert area behind the store and was seen physically battering him, according to police. The suspect then walked back to his vehicle and back out to the desert where police believe he struck the male with a rock. A female who was with the suspect entered the man’s truck and drove out of the area, the release said.

Police described the suspect they are looking for as a Samoan or Hawaiian man between 20 and 30 years old. He was last seen wearing a green shirt, tan shorts and flip-flops.

The identity of the male who was killed will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
