RTC studies improvements in access to Bonneville Transit Center

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada is conducting a survey of central Las Vegas residents and workers on how the agency can better connect them to the Bonneville Transit Center.

The RTC's Community Mobility Study targets neighborhoods within a three-mile radius of the Bonneville facility, the valley's primary transportation hub. That area consists of approximately 28 square miles and covers parts of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Clark County.

The study will look at how far area residents and workers have to travel by transit, bicycle or on foot to bus stops, commercial complexes, community centers, medical facilities and grocery stores.

The survey will gather information on barriers such as walls surrounding neighborhoods or issues such as streets that need improved lighting and additional crosswalks.

The survey is posted online in English and Spanish at rtcsnv.com and will be active until 5 p.m. Friday. A hard copy of the survey can be requested by calling the RTC at 676-1735.

A report on the study is expected in April.
