Substitute teacher faces charges of sexual contact with student

A substitute teacher is facing charges linked to “inappropriate behavior with a minor,” Las Vegas police said Thursday.

Kelly Hoffman, 48, was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. He faces two counts of sexual assault of a child under 16, one count of luring a child, two counts of statutory sexual seduction, and a sex act by an adult school employee with a student.

Clark County School District spokeswoman Michelle Booth said Hoffman has been working as a high school substitute teacher since 2004, and the district has taken him off its call list. Parents will be notified tomorrow if their children attend a school he has worked at, she said.

Police did not identify specific schools or possible victims, but police have released information about Hoffman as a precaution.

If you believe your child may have been a victim of sexual abuse, contact the Metro’s sexual assault section at 702-828-3421. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
