Teen who died after being struck by car in North Las Vegas identified

The teenager who died Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle while he was on a sidewalk has been identified by the Clark County coroner's office.

Jesse Hill, 18, and a 16-year-old girl were struck about 4 p.m. Tuesday while walking along Gliding Eagle Road near Black Oaks Street, according to North Las Vegas police.

The two teenagers were taken to University Medical Center, where Hill died Wednesday afternoon. The girl remains in critical condition.

Police said Cristian Ivan Diaz, 19, lost control of a 2002 Acura Coupe and struck the two teens who were walking on the sidewalk.

Diaz was arrested on one count of failure to maintain a travel lane and one count of failure to obtain a Nevada's driver's license within 30 days.

Ricardo Daniel Velasquez, 18, a passenger in the Acura, was arrested on one count of possession of 1 ounce or less of marijuana and one count of destruction of evidence.

Diaz and Velasquez were booked into the Las Vegas City Jail.

Police said Diaz will probably face additional charges.
