Bullhead City man pleads guilty in death of girlfriend’s baby

A Bullhead City, Ariz., man charged in the 2014 death of his girlfriend’s baby pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Wednesday.

David Ramos, 24, will get a stipulated 13-year prison sentence if Mohave County Superior Court Judge Billy Sipe approves the plea agreement during a Sept. 2 sentencing hearing.

Ramos and the victim’s mother rushed 1-year-old Drayson Tese to a Bullhead City hospital for treatment of a head injury on Oct. 21. Tese died two days later at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas.

An autopsy conducted by the Clark County coroner’s office determined that Tese was the victim of a homicide and died of blunt force trauma to the abdomen.

Police said Ramos told investigators he was playing with the child and accidentally dropped him after tossing him in the air. The child’s mother was not home at the time of the incident and was not charged in the case.
