Las Vegas police arrest fugitive from Arizona

Police in Las Vegas arrested a northwest Arizona fugitive who was convicted of manslaughter and other charges after skipping his trial in Kingman last week.

Metro said its officers learned of Delbert Brechler’s fugitive status during a routine police contact Friday, two days after the Kingman man was found guilty of all counts at the end of his three-day trial in Arizona.

Brechler, 46, faces up to 36 years in prison when returned to Arizona for sentencing.

A Mohave County Superior Court jury deliberated less than an hour before finding Brechler guilty of drunk driving charges, aggravated assault and manslaughter for the July 2013 two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of Cody Raymond, 17, of Kingman. Neither Brechler nor Raymond’s teenage passenger was injured in the crash on Route 66, one mile north of the Kingman city limits.
