Man dies while swimming in Lake Mohave

An 18-year-old man’s body was was recovered near Morning Star Cove on Lake Mohave on Thursday, according to the National Park Service.

The man was swimming with a friend across the cove and disappeared under water. The park service said the man was not wearing a life jacket, and winds had reached about 20 mph with waves between 6 and 12 inches high.

The man’s friend called for emergency assistance just before 4 p.m., according to the park service. Rangers began to search right away and called in Metro’s Search and Rescue Dive Team, which found the man’s body.

His identity and cause of death will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office after his family has been notified.
