Man suspected of attacking Nye County deputy arrested

A man said to have attacked a deputy Tuesday night has been apprehended, the Nye County Sheriff's Office said Thursday morning.

Police have said Jeffrey Stevens, 46, tried to take a deputy's firearm, then ran when he failed.

The deputy was treated for unspecified nonlife-threatening injuries and was "OK" Wednesday, the department said.

After an extensive two-day search, deputies apprehended Stevens about 9 a.m. Thursday near a grocery store. Stevens ran away and fought with the arresting deputies, the department said.

He was taken to Desert View Hospital for evaluation and then will be transported to the Nye County Detention Center.
