RTC shines light on Flamingo Road improvements

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada is taking awareness of its 1½-year, 14-mile Flamingo Road Improvements Project on the road.

Mobile open houses are planned at seven locations on the $40.3 million project that begins this month and is expected to be completed in fall 2016.

Transportation district staff will be available on a Flamingo-branded, double-deck bus to provide information on the repaving and restriping of the road and the installation of dedicated bus and bike lanes, more than 100 new bus shelters, traffic signal upgrades, improved pedestrian crossings and enhanced median landscaping.

The mobile open house schedule:

— Walgreens parking lot, 7845 W. Flamingo Road, Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon.

— Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road, Saturday, 1-3 p.m.
