Gusty winds, cooler temps for weekend in Las Vegas Valley

Updated April 27, 2018 - 10:04 pm

The Las Vegas Valley will start to cool down after a string of days well above normal, but gusty winds are on the way, the National Weather Service said.

Sustained winds on Saturday should stick between 20 and 30 mph with gusts as high as 40 mph, meteorologist Barry Pierce said.

Saturday’s forecast has a high of 87, the weather service said. On Sunday the high will drop to 84, and breezy winds in the morning should die down as a cold front moves over the valley.

Monday’s forecast has a high of 78, and Tuesday and Wednesday should see highs of 72, about 10 degrees below the average for this time of year, Pierce said.

“Pretty dramatic cooling,” he said.

There’s a 40 percent chance for showers on Tuesday and a 20 percent chance on Wednesday. The valley could see thunderstorms during that time.
