Rain expected in Las Vegas for much of the week

The Las Vegas Valley should reach a high of 89 degrees Tuesday and have sunny skies, the National Weather Service said.

Las Vegas can expect some chance of showers and thunderstorms from Wednesday and Thursday, meteorologist Jim Harrison said. Highs for the week will remain around the upper 80s, with slightly overcast skies expected later in the week.

Winds Tuesday are expected to be light and variable, Harrison said.

By Friday, mostly sunny weather should return, with only a slight chance of rain, the Weather Service said.
