Rain possible in Las Vegas Valley on Wednesday

The Las Vegas Valley can expect a windy and cooler-than-average first day of autumn on Thursday, according to the National Weather service.

After trace amounts of rain fell in parts of the valley Wednesday, Thursday should have a high of 84 degrees —8 degrees lower than the average temperature of 94 degrees—meteorologist Reid Wolcott said. Autumn officially begins at 7:21 a.m., the weather service said.

High temperatures are forecast to remain in the 80s for the rest of the week and throughout the weekend. Friday’s high is expected to dip to 81 degrees, Saturday’s high to be 85 degrees and Sunday’s high to hit 87 degrees, Wolcott said.

The changing of the seasons will also bring wind; gusts are expected up to 40 mph, Wolcott said, and a wind advisory is issued from noon until 8 p.m.

Wind speeds will slow to 20 to 30 mph during the weekend, according to the weather service. Rain is unlikely for the rest of the week and for the weekend.
