Record warmth until Sunday when storm moves to Las Vegas

The warmest day of 2016 will be Thursday, then Friday, then Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. But you have until Sunday to enjoy the spring preview, because that's when a major storm system will creep into the valley and cause temperatures to nosedive.

Before the fall, the climb: Thursday's forecast high of 64 will top the warmest weather this year's seen by 1 degree. Then Friday's forecast high is 67, followed by Saturday's at 68.

But when the clock strikes 12, Sunday's "pretty big system" will bring a 40 percent chance of rain and "some gusty winds as well," meteorologist John Salmen said. The high will drop into the 50s, and Mount Charleston could get snow.

Looking ahead to next week, temperatures are forecast to linger below normal, with highs in the low-50s, lows in the mid-30s and a possibility for freezing temps both Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
