Warm and windy weather on tap for Sunday

Hot temperatures and lots of sunshine are expected for the week ahead in the Las Vegas Valley, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday saw a high temperature of 107 degrees, meteorologist John Salmen said. Afternoon winds ranged from 15 to 25 mph, with a few gusts up to 33 mph, he said. The weather service predicts similar winds on Sunday, with gusts up to 35 mph.

A high of 106 is forecast for both Sunday and Monday, the weather service said. Next week temperatures will drop slightly to 105 Monday, 104 Wednesday, and 105 Thursday.

A chance of showers will move back into the forecast by the middle of the week. There is a 20 percent chance of rain for Wednesday through Saturday, Salmen said.

Friday is expected to have a high temperature of 107.
