Warm, sunny temperatures forecast for Las Vegas this weekend

The Las Vegas Valley continues to be warm, tranquil and sunny with temperatures approaching 80 degrees much earlier than normal, according to the National Weather Service.

Friday is expected to have a high of 77 degrees and a low of 52. Skies will be sunny and are expected to stay clear through Sunday.

Saturday and Sunday have forecast highs of 79, but the weather service expects temperatures in the 80s in parts of the valley, Meteorologist Barry Pierce said.

The valley doesn't typically start to see 80-degree days until the second part of April, Pierce said. Current temperatures are about 10 to 15 degrees higher than normal, he added.

February's warmer-than-average temperatures are expected to contribute to the second warmest February on record. The record average high for the month of February is 60.1 degrees and was set last year, Pierce said.

As of Friday, the average high for this February is 56.1 degrees, putting it in third place.
