Winds to stick around in Las Vegas Valley
February 22, 2016 - 8:40 pm
While winds will stick around the valley Tuesday, rain and clouds should stay away through the end of the week.
Monday's high reached 73 degrees, but Tuesday is expected to cool off by 10 degrees with a forecast high of 64, according to the National Weather Service.
After Tuesday's cool down, temperatures are expected to peak at 68 for Wednesday and climb into the mid-70s the rest of the week, meteorologist Caleb Steele said. Tuesday's high should be much closer to the average temperature of 65 degrees seen this time of year, he said.
Winds Tuesday won't be quite as strong as they were Monday, when gusts peaked at 40 mph at McCarran International Airport, said meteorologist Andy Gorelow. Wind speeds Tuesday are forecast between 15 and 25 mph and will fall to about 10 mph Wednesday afternoon.
Rain remains elusive, Steele said. Typically, the valley experiences "decent" rain this time of year, he said, so this period of dryness is unusual.
