HEAD OF THE CLASS: Jordan, Mustangs hand Gorman first in-state baseball loss

The junior had three hits and two RBIs to lead the Jaguars to a 22-8 road win over Clark, snapping the team’s 104-game losing streak. The Jaguars hadn’t won since defeating Sunrise Mountain 21-13 on May 4, 2010.

The senior posted a time of 10.69 seconds to win the open division 100-meter dash at the Arcadia (California) Invitational.

GIRLS TRACK

Karina Haymore

Centennial

The junior posted a time of 2 minutes, 12.92 seconds in the 800-meter run at the Arcadia (California) Invitational. Haymore finished fourth in the open division race, and her time is the fastest in Nevada this season by more than six seconds.

HEAD OF THE CLASS

ARBOR VIEW — Baseball player Brady Borden threw five scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out five, in a 9-2 win over Shadow Ridge.

BONANZA — Boys volleyball player Robby Adair had 21 kills in a 3-1 victory over Silverado.

CIMARRON-MEMORIAL Softball player Cierra Davis had a double and an RBI in a 7-2 win over Durango.

CORONADO — Baseball player Landen Rowland went 7-for-11 with two doubles and a solo homer in victories over Las Vegas, Eldorado and Rancho.

DESERT OASIS — Baseball player Isaiah Raiano went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three runs against Bonanza. Girls swimmer Meg Kurosawa won the 200-yard freestyle against Bonanza and Spring Valley, setting a school record with a time of 2 minutes, 4.36 seconds.

FAITH LUTHERAN — Boys golfer Charlie Magruder shot 1-under-par 71 at Canyon Gate to win a Sunset League match. Girls track athlete Bryanna Neagle cleared 5 feet, 4 inches to win the high jump and set a school record in a meet at Desert Pines.

FOOTHILL — Baseball player Trentin Price struck out the side with the tying and winning runs on base to earn a save against Eldorado, then threw two scoreless innings of relief to get a win against Canyon Springs.

GREEN VALLEY — Baseball player A.J. Amelburu was 10-for-14 for the week to lead the Gators to a 3-1 record.

MOJAVE — Baseball player Elijah Glaze went 3-for-5 in games against Faith Lutheran and Pahrump Valley to improve his average to .556. Softball player Ana Evans batted .500 with two doubles and two runs in games against Faith Lutheran and Pahrump Valley.

PALO VERDE — Girls track thrower Makenzie Barnes won the discus in a meet against Shadow Ridge with a mark of 116 feet, 2 inches. Boys track athlete Nicholas Jacobson won the 800- and 1,600-meter runs against Shadow Ridge and Spring Mountain. Jacobson posted a time of 2 minutes, 1.79 seconds in the 800, and won the 1,600 in 4:36.51.

SIERRA VISTA — Girls swimmer Taylor Saxon won the 100- and 500-yard freestyles and swam on the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams in a 169-94 win over Western. Baseball player Ryan Carroll hit .571 with two doubles, a homer and nine RBIs over four games.
