Turnovers key Desert Pines in victory over Valley

Desert Pines’ defense converted three Valley turnovers into touchdowns as the Jaguars held off the Vikings 33-20 in a Northeast League game on Friday at Valley.

The teams traded scores throughout the game until Eric Tuiloma of Desert Pines intercepted a pass in the final minute and returned it 99-yards for a touchdown to seal the victory.

The Jaguars (1-4, 1-1 Northeast) were led on offense by a powerful running game. Derrick Shaw ran for 81 yards on 20 carries. Dennis Scott added another 42 yards and a touchdown.

Kerwynn Williams led Valley (2-3, 0-2) with 199 rushing yards, 105 passing yards, and two rushing touchdowns.
