BASEBALL: Durango holds off Faith Lutheran

Durango’s baseball team plated three runs in the bottom of the second Friday and held on for a 4-3 home win over Faith Lutheran.

The Trailblazers trailed 3-1 when the rally started with a two-out error that allowed a run to score. The tying run came home on a passed ball, and Colin Marracco singled home Richard Mascarenas with the go-ahead run.

Marracco went 3-for-3 with a run for Durango, which beat the Crusaders for the second straight day.

Faith Lutheran’s Jason Eary and Sagan Gronauer each went 2-for-3, and Joshua Harmonay and Zack Trageton each went 2-for-4 for the Crusaders.

Coronado 5, Palo Verde 3 — At Palo Verde, Cristian Herrera hit a three-run home run during a five-run sixth inning as the Cougars rallied to top the Panthers.

Jeffrey Ewing was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Coronado, which trailed 2-0 entering the sixth.

Mitchell Rathbun hit a triple for Palo Verde.

Spring Valley 7, Cimarron-Memorial 2 — At Cimarron-Memorial, Antony Vazquez went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Grizzlies past the Spartans.

Jake Sellinger was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Jonathan Bakken went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Spring Valley.

Richie Coughlin and Diego Cardoso each went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Cimarron.

Chaparral 11, Clark 6 — At Chaparral, the Cowboys scored 10 runs in the second inning to ease past the Chargers.

Antonio Vara was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and David Rendon added two RBIs on two suicide-squeeze plays for Chaparral. Chris Sedillo and Eddie Lopez each went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Cowboys.

Thomas Campbell hit a double for Clark.

Arbor View 12, Boulder City 1 — At Boulder City, Dylan Anderson went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and four RBIs to help the Aggies to the six-inning win over the Eagles.

Brandon Stevens went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBIs, and Jacob Hamilton was 2-for-2 with two doubles and two runs for Arbor View, which broke a 1-1 tie with five runs in the top of the fifth.

Sierra Vista 11, Western 2 — At Western, Ryan Carroll was 2-for-4 with a home run and a double to help the Mountain Lions defeat the Warriors in the conclusion of a game suspended last week by rain.

Jhared Gonzalez was 2-for-3 with a double for Sierra Vista.

Christian Iafrate and Brett Carroll combined on a three-hitter for the Mountain Lions.

Valley 6, Tech 3 — At Tech, the Vikings used a three-run fifth inning to take control en route to the win over the Roadrunners.

Jacob Cruz went the distance, scattering nine hits, to get the win.

Alexis Acosta was 2-for-4 with two doubles for Tech.

The Meadows 8-14, Calvary Chapel 0-0 — At Paul Meyer Park, Alex Agrawal tossed a two-hitter and struck out 12 in the nightcap as the Mustangs swept the Lions in a pair of five-inning games.

Ben Russell had two hits and four RBIs for The Meadows in the second game.

In the opener, Sam Kaplan had two hits and two RBIs for The Meadows.

Christian O’Kelley and Isaiah Jimmerson each had two hits for Calvary Chapel in the opener.

Pahranagat Valley 11-18, Indian Springs 3-12 — At Indian Springs, Garrett Higbee had two hits in the nightcap and doubled in the opener as the Panthers clinched the Division IV Southern League title with a sweep of the Thunderbirds.

Christian Higbee doubled and tripled, and teammate Brandon Burris doubled twice in the opener for Pahranagat Valley.

Indian Springs’ Austin Thomas and Nino Alvarez each doubled and singled in the finale.

Lincoln County 10-4, Laughlin 0-3 — At Laughlin, the Lynx clinched the Division III Southern League title with a win over the Cougars in the opening game.

Lincoln County finished off the sweep with an eight-inning win in the nightcap.

Tonopah 17, Spring Mountain 4 — At Bishop Gorman, the Muckers wrapped up the Central League’s No. 2 seed for the Division IV Southern Region playoffs by downing the Eagles.

Round Mountain 7-17, Beatty 6-10 — At Beatty, the Knights swept a doubleheader from the Hornets.

Mountain View 7-7, Agassi Prep 0-0 — At Agassi Prep, the Saints won two games by forfeit over the Stars.
