BASEBALL: Garrison, Arbor View top Gators in extra innings

Tyler Garrison hit a key two-run single, and Arbor View’s baseball team scored four times in the top of the eighth inning to beat host Green Valley 5-1 on Friday in a battle of top-10 teams.

Cameron Mormon went 2-for-2 for the No. 4 Aggies, who took advantage of several mistakes in the eighth by No. 7 Green Valley.

Arbor View’s Nick Quintana hit a solo homer in the fifth inning to tie the game at 1.

Michael Hillcoat doubled for the Gators. Arbor View pitchers Adam Koutz and Ryan Chen limited Green Valley to only three hits.

Shadow Ridge 14, Centennial 9 — At Centennial, Brady Hoskins had two doubles and two RBIs, and Logan Hold drove in five runs as the Mustangs rallied from an early 8-3 deficit to beat the Bulldogs.

Danny Turnbull went 2-for-4 with two doubles, and Travis Caskie was 3-for-5 with a double for No. 3 Shadow Ridge, which turned a game-ending triple play.

Will Loucks went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Centennial. Ricky Koplow added a double and two RBIs, and teammate Shane Kahale also had a double.

Valley 8, Chaparral 6 — At Chaparral, Hayden Minyard’s bloop single in the top of the eighth inning scored two runs, and the Vikings slipped past the Cowboys.

Chaparral’s Eduardo Jimenez went 2-for-4 and hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 6.

In the eighth, Andre Baughman reached on a one-out error and stole second. One out later, Rayce Rayos singled and then stole second to put runners on second and third. Minyard followed with the go-ahead hit.
Kevin Rocha was 4-for-5 with a triple for Valley, and Rayos finished 3-for-5.

Faith Lutheran 23, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Sunrise Mountain, Caleb Summerhays went 4-for-4 with four home runs and 10 RBIs to help the Crusaders roll past the Miners in five innings.

Faith Lutheran’s Jordan Dreibelbis struck out 11 while pitching a no-hitter.

Eric Uelmen doubled twice and also had a triple for the Crusaders, and teammate Tyler Trageton had a double and a triple.

Mojave 8, Del Sol 5 — At Mojave, David Rowley went 3-for-4 and knocked in the go-ahead run in a three-run sixth inning as the Rattlers downed the Dragons.

Rowley’s single scored Cory Tobin to give Mojave a 6-5 lead. Jordan Gainey followed with a two-run single.
Ryan Lawrence was 3-for-4 with a double and two stolen bases for the Rattlers.

Nick Trujillo finished 2-for-4 for Del Sol.

Foothill 9, Boulder City 4 — At Boulder City, Bligh Madris hit a two-run homer, and Collin Dobrolecki added a two-run triple as the Falcons scored five times in the top of the sixth inning to rally past the Eagles.

Nick Cardinale put the Falcons ahead in the first inning with a two-run double, and teammate Janson Neff was 2-for-3.

Tanner Howell hit a three-run homer in the first inning for Boulder City. Corbett Fleming went 2-for-4 and doubled in a run in the sixth.

Las Vegas 6, Eldorado 3 — At Eldorado, Dustin Cash was 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and two RBIs to help the Wildcats top the Sundevils.

Eddie Ojeda went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Dameiko Mack was 1-for-1 with an RBI for Las Vegas.

Lucio Arreola was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Trey Bayliss went 1-for-2 with an RBI for Eldorado.

Cheyenne 10, Virgin Valley 5 — At Cheyenne, Lamon Harvey went 4-for-4 with two home runs, a triple and four RBIs to help the Desert Shields defeat the Bulldogs.

Tanner Killmer went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Bulldogs.

Mountain View 11-20, Agassi Prep 0-5 — At Mountain View, Ivaylo Iliev tossed a no-hitter with four walks and eight strikeouts in the opener as the Saints swept a pair of five-inning games from the Stars.

Trenton Van Kempen was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and Ian Locke went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Mountain View in the opener. Patrick Gallagher went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Saints.

In the nightcap, the Saints scored 15 runs in the bottom of the third inning to break a 2-2 tie.

Locke was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Iliev went 2-for-3 with a double for Mountain View.

Lincoln County 6, White Pine 5 — At Panaca, Mike Wood scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the eighth inning, giving the host Lynx a non-league victory over the Bobcats.

Colton Johnson went the distance for Lincoln County, allowing six hits and striking out 13.
