BASEBALL: Neighbors helps Durango upset Mountain Lions

Brett Neighbors spun a five-hitter with six strikeouts and no walks Tuesday to help Durango’s baseball team stun visiting Sierra Vista, 5-2.

Neighbors also went 1-for-2 with two RBIs for Durango, which scored all of its runs in the second inning.

Arbor View 10, Spring Valley 3 — At Spring Valley, Evan McMahan tossed a five-hitter and added two hits and three RBIs to lead the Aggies to victory over the Grizzlies.

Tyler Peterson went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Adam Koutz supplied an RBI double for Arbor View.

Michael Macove finished 2-for-3 with an RBI double for Spring Valley.

Mojave 7, Pahrump Valley 6 — At Pahrump, Chase Anderson smacked a two-run homer in the top of the sixth as the Rattlers held off the Trojans.

Corey Tobin and Andrew Ehrensaft each supplied two hits, including solo homers for Mojave.

Rich Greene went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs, and Devin Riley supplied two hits and an RBI for Pahrump.

Western 7, Cheyenne 5 — At Western, Josh Yocum tossed a five-hitter with 12 strikeouts to lead the Warriors by the Desert Shields.

Daniel Carrillo went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Ryan Garbowski was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Western, which trailed 4-1 after two innings.

Shadow Ridge 6, Palo Verde 1 — At Palo Verde, Logan Hold fired a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts, and Ben Fitzhugh hammered a solo homer in the third inning as the Mustangs topped the Panthers.

Fitzhugh finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Alec Pittsenbarger was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Travis Caskie went 2-for-3 for Shadow Ridge.

Cole Schumacher was 2-for-3 and drove in the lone run for Palo Verde.

Rancho 12, Valley 2 — At Valley, Max Cruz tossed a five-inning six-hitter and struck out nine to guide the Rams by the Vikings.

Bryce Harrell, Eric Allen, Andrew Wieger and Zach Barnhart each had two singles for Rancho.

Silverado 14, Canyon Springs 1 — At Silverado, Jordan Thomson went 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI as the Skyhawks routed the Pioneers in five innings.

Hunter Welch was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI for Silverado.

Cameron Fortson was 1-for-1 with an RBI for Canyon Springs.

Faith Lutheran 10, Clark 2 — At Clark, Alec Goss, Brandon Johnson and John Thomas combined on a three-hitter as the Crusaders routed the Chargers.

Caleb Summerhays went 3-for-4 with a run for Faith Lutheran, which got two hits apiece from Thomas Beatty, Logan Etherington, and Tyler Trageton.
