BASEBALL: Powell pitches perfect game, Bulldogs top Diamondbacks

Centennial’s Cooper Powell pitched a perfect game with four strikeouts on Thursday as the Bulldogs beat visiting Desert Oasis 10-0 in five innings.

Powell also tripled twice and had two RBIs.

Kyle Horton went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Hayden Grant was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI for Centennial. Tanner Wright was 2-for-3 with a run for the Bulldogs.

Legacy 6, Bonanza 5 — At Legacy, the Longhorns used and RBI single and an error to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to get past the Bengals.

Starting pitcher Donta Williams hit a one-out double to start the rally and scored on an RBI single from Garret Christiansen to tie it at 5-5. Christiansen took second on the throw to the plate, and scored on an error on the second baseman.

Christiansen earned the win in relief for Legacy, which got two hits from Quentin Ewing.

Hunter Junge was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Alec Taft had two hits, and Cruz Nevarez supplied an RBI double for Bonanza.

Coronado 6, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Luke McArthy tossed five shutout innings with seven strikeouts, and the Cougars used a five-run seventh inning to defeat the Sundevils.

Austin Garcia was 3-for-3 with two doubles and two runs, and teammates Anthony Olheiser and Caden Spilsbury each added a two-run double for Coronado.

Jacen Yergensen added two hits and a run, and Michael Warning threw two scoreless innings to get the save.

Cris Andrade had two hits and a walk for Eldorado.

Cheyenne 4, Clark 3 — At Clark, George Carmona doubled home Brian Corder with the go-ahead run in the sixth inning to lift the Desert Shields past the Chargers.

Orestes Marquetti had a two-run double in the fourth inning as Cheyenne scored three times. Korey Poole and Joseph Rose also doubled for the Desert Shields.

Stefan McLin had a two-run double in the fifth inning for Clark, and Miguel Carrillo tied the game at 3-3 one batter later with an RBI single.

Ryan Ebel struck out 10 and went the distance for the Chargers.

Liberty 10, Del Sol 0 — At Liberty, Bailey Daguio threw a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts to lead the Patriots over the Dragons in six innings.

Josh McCollum went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Nick Rush was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Liberty.

Green Valley 5, Spring Valley 0 — At Green Valley, Ryan Jackson tossed a two-hitter, striking out nine and walking one, to lead the Gators by the Grizzlies.

Blake Inouye went 2-for-3 with a triple and a double for Green Valley.

Bishop Gorman 12, West Ranch (Calif.) 5 — At Gorman, Cadyn Grenier went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and two RBIs to help the Gaels top West Ranch in six innings in the Bishop Gorman Easter Classic.

Drew Newson was 3-for-4 with three doubles, and Cole Krzmarzick went 3-for-3 with an RBI for Gorman. Michael Blasko was 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs for the Gaels.

Arbor View 14, North Shore (Canada) 3 — At Arbor View, Nick Quintana went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, five RBIs and two runs to help the Aggies rout North Shore in five innings.

Kaid Urban went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and two RBIs, and Sam Pastrone was 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run for Arbor View. Gabe Gonzalez had two hits, including a triple, and Kevin Johns added two hits, including a double, for the Aggies.

Mojave 17, Western 4 — At Western, Ryan Lawrence went 3-for-4 with a grand slam and five RBIs as the Rattlers topped the Warriors in six innings.

Cory Tobin went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs, and Liam Harris was 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Mojave, which led only 3-2 before scoring five runs in the fifth and nine in the sixth.

Angel Hernandez was 2-for-2 with a run for Western.

Faith Lutheran 12, Pahrump Valley 3 — At Pahrump, Dakota Greenawalt highlighted a nine-run seventh inning with a three-run homer to help the Crusaders down the Trojans.

Zach Trageton went 3-for-4, and teammate Joshua Harmonay added three singles for Faith Lutheran, which got doubles from Thomas Beatty, Logan Etherington and Justin Daraban.

Jordan Dreibelbis struck out five in six innings to earn the win for the Crusaders, who led just 3-1 going into the seventh.

Cody Kovatch went 1-for-3 with two runs for Pahrump.

Adelson School 22, Calvary Chapel 15 — At Calvary Chapel, Adelson scored 12 runs in the first inning and downed the Lions for the first win in program history.

Nick Justiana was 2-for-3 with two doubles and five RBIs, and Aaron Schwartz went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs for Adelson.
