ROUNDUP: Cruz’s RBI single helps Jaguars stun Rams

Juan Cruz was 2-for-2 with an RBI single to help Desert Pines’ baseball team to a 3-1 home win over Rancho on Tuesday.

The Jaguars trailed 1-0 going into the bottom of the third, but used a walk, two balks, a sacrifice bunt, a fielder’s choice and Cruz’s single to score two runs to take the lead for good.

Roberto Hernandez went the distance, scattering five hits, to get the win.

Eric Allen paced Rancho with three hits, a run and three stolen bases.

Shadow Ridge 2, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Mitchell Shields threw a no-hitter as the Mustangs edged the Crusaders.

Shields struck out 10 and walked three, and also went 1-for-3 with a double and a run.

Sierra Vista 4, Durango 0 — At Durango, Tyler Burdett pitched a complete game, scattering eight hits with no walks, two hit batters and three strikeouts as the Mountain Lions blanked the Trailblazers.

Robert Lee went 3-for-4 with a double for Sierra Vista, and Connor Klein had two RBIs.

Durango’s Anthony Parry was 3-for-3 with a double.

Arbor View 7, Palo Verde 2 — At Arbor View, Zach Quintana hit a home run and threw a complete game, scattering five hits with 13 strikeouts, to power the Aggies past the Panthers.

Ryan Chen was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Tyler LeBaron went 2-for-4 with a double for Arbor View.

Chris Hopballe doubled for Palo Verde.

Desert Oasis 10, Western 3 — At Desert Oasis, Cody Schmidt was 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and three RBIs to lead the Diamondbacks past the Warriors.

Mike Maiello went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Joe Paratore was 2-for-2 with an RBI for Desert Oasis.

Daniel Buzzard tripled and drove in two runs for Western.

Spring Valley 14, Clark 1 — At Clark, Jose Rosales-Rodarte went 4-for-5 with three runs and five RBIs to lead the Grizzlies past the Chargers.

Cody Foremaster was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Dylan Drachler was 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI for Spring Valley, whose top four hitters in the lineup — Michael Macove, Drew LaComb, Drachler and Rosales-Rodarte — scored 13 runs.

Isaac Velasquez was 2-for-3 for Clark.

Bonanza 12, Pahrump Valley 3 — At Bonanza, Travis Ming went 4-for-4 with a double, a home run, five RBIs and five stolen bases as the Bengals drubbed the Trojans.

Daniel Romero added two hits and three stolen bases, and David Estrada supplied two hits and an RBI for Bonanza.

Anthony Risucci earned the win in relief for the Bengals.

Cimarron-Memorial 14, Mojave 2 — At Cimarron, Ricky Dorantes went 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs to lead the Spartans to the five-inning win.

Jayson Hicks went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and three RBIs, and Josh Nuernberg and Niko Decolati each added two hits for Cimarron.

Ryan Corwin allowed two hits with five strikeouts and no walks in four shutout innings to get the win.

Legacy 16, Cheyenne 0 — At Legacy, Avery Brandon went 2-for-2 with three runs and four RBIs as the Longhorns routed the Desert Shields in five innings.

Josh Torres was 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs, and Alex Wenzel went 3-for-3 with a triple, three runs and an RBI for Legacy.

Mountain View 14, Spring Mountain 13 — At Mountain View, winning pitcher Noah Van Kempen singled home two runs to tie the game with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, then scored the winning run on Sam Davison’s squeeze bunt as the Saints plated five runs in the seventh to nip the Golden Eagles.

Ian Locke’s double led off the bottom of the seventh, and the Saints took advantage of two walks and a hit batter to put the tying runs on base ahead of Van Kempen, who singled, stole second and took third on a passed ball before Davison’s bunt.

Locke went 2-for-5 for Mountain View.
