ROUNDUP: Hillcoat knocks in game-winner to lift Green Valley over Skyhawks

Michael Hillcoat’s RBI single in the top of the eighth inning plated Keaton Smith to give the Green Valley baseball team a 6-5 road win over Silverado on Thursday.

Smith went 3-for-5 with a double and a triple, and Troy Cropper supplied two hits and two runs and picked up the win in relief.

Quintin Kohorst struck out the side in the eighth to get the save, and Jarrett Perns supplied two hits and a run for the Gators.

Silverado’s David Kuzma was 2-for-4 with a double, and scored a run in the bottom of the fifth to tie it at 5-5.

Michael Camburn added two hits for the Skyhawks.

Faith Lutheran 6, Western 5 — At Faith Lutheran, Greg Sylvester was 3-for-4 and scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth as the Crusaders edged the Warriors.

Faith Lutheran had the bases loaded and no outs in the eighth when Tyler Trageton hit a grounder to third. Western came to the plate to get the first out, but the relay to first to try to complete the double play resulted in a collision between the runner and first baseman. Sylvester came all the way from second to score the winning run.

Ryan Garbowski was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI to lead Western.

Shadow Ridge 11, Sierra Vista 5 — At Sierra Vista, the Mustangs belted five home runs to earn a road win over the Mountain Lions.

Bradly Luizza smacked two two-run homers, and Alec Pittsenbarger hit a three-run shot to lead the way. Ben Fitzhugh had a two-run home run, and Jordan Hand added a solo shot for Shadow Ridge, which scored three times in the top of the seventh to pull away.

Cole Crosby finished 3-for-4 with a double, a run, and an RBI for Sierra Vista.

Arbor View 10, Palo Verde 0 — At Arbor View, Kaid Urban went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs and three RBIs as the Aggies blanked the Panthers in five innings.

Nate Stepna was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, three runs and an RBI, and P.J. Gonzalez went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Arbor View, which got a two-run home run from Nick Quintana.

Adam Koutz tossed a three-hitter and struck out four for the Aggies.

Spring Valley 13, Durango 8 — At Durango, the Grizzlies rallied for six runs in the top of the seventh to earn the win over the Trailblazers.

Pinch-hitter Bryan Bierlein had a two-run single to put Spring Valley up 9-8.

Logan Mace went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and two RBIs and also picked up the win in relief. He allowed a run on three hits in 3 2/3 innings. He struck out five and walked three.

Michael Macove went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and teammate Dylan Drachler was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Grizzlies.

Durango’s Scott Martinez went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.

Cheyenne 14, Mojave 10 — At Mojave, Brian Corder doubled twice, and the Desert Shields scored seven times in the sixth inning to beat the Rattlers, their first victory of the season.

Freshman Zack Gardner homered for Mojave, which led 7-4 after five innings.

Las Vegas 13, Valley 2 — At Las Vegas, Jeremiah Garcia threw a four-hitter, struck out six and hit a double to power the Wildcats over the Vikings in five innings.

Jerome Byndloss had a double, a triple and two RBIs for Las Vegas, and teammate Nolan Cassell doubled twice.

Hayden Minyard was 2-for-3 with a double for the Vikings.

Rancho 13, Canyon Springs 2 — At Canyon Springs, Eric Allen went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs as the Rams topped the Pioneers in six innings.

David Modler was 2-for-3 with a triple for Rancho.

Rams starter Richie Coughlin struck out nine in 4 1/3 innings to get the win.

Pahrump Valley 5, Clark 3 — At Pahrump, A.J. Segura went 2-for-3 with a triple and picked up the pitching victory as the Trojans downed the Chargers.

Josh Mortensen and Dylan Ault each went 1-for-3 with an RBI for Pahrump.

Bishop Gorman 11, Cyprus (Utah) 1 — At Gorman, Cole Krzmarzick hit for the cycle and drove in three runs to lead the Gaels to the win in the five-inning win in the Gorman Easter Classic.

Conor Bredin threw a five-hitter, striking out five, to get the win.

The Meadows 3-5, Laughlin 1-15 — At Laughlin, Justin Diamond struck out 12 to lead the Mustangs in the opener as they split a doubleheader with the Cougars.
