ROUNDUP: Jones, Gaels roll Beetdiggers for Desert Classic title

Justin Jones went 3-for-4 with a triple, a pair of doubles and four RBIs Saturday to help Bishop Gorman’s baseball team win its own Desert Classic tournament with an 11-1, five-inning victory over Jordan (Utah).
Joey Gallo and Kenny Meimerstorf each homered for the Gaels, who scored in all five innings.
Stephen Joseph and Cody Roper each went 2-for-3 for the Gaels.
Matt Roth tossed a two-hitter with five strikeouts for Gorman.
Sierra Vista 8, Palo Verde 5 — At Sierra Vista, Daniel Gonzales was 3-for-4 with two triples and three RBIs to lead the Mountain Lions by the Panthers.
Loren Cutolo went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs for Sierra Vista, which trailed 3-0 entering the bottom of the third inning.
Grayson Webber was 3-for-4 with a double to pace Palo Verde. Cody Schuster went 2-for-3 with a triple, and Alex Blutman was 2-for-4 for the Panthers.
Silverado 11, Shadow Ridge 3 — At Silverado, Bryan Faucher went 3-for-4 with two runs , and the Skyhawks scored five runs in the third inning on their way to a win over the Mustangs.
Six Silverado pitchers combined on a four-hitter.
Alec Pittsenbarger hit a solo home run for Shadow Ridge.
Centennial 7, Cedar (Utah) 6 — At Centennial, Will Loucks’ pinch-hit two-run home run capped a five-run bottom of the sixth inning and helped the Bulldogs nip the Redmen.
Ian Ogurek went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs for Centennial, which carried a 7-4 lead into the seventh and hung on.
Winning pitcher Casey Congleton struck out nine in six innings.
Arbor View 12, Del Sol 0 — At Del Sol, Zach Quintana went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs to help the Aggies top the Dragons in six innings.
Evan McMahan was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs, an RBI and a stolen base for Arbor View, which used a five-run second inning and a five-run sixth to pull away.
Winning pitcher Bryce Wildenberg allowed just three hits and struck out six in five innings.
Desert Pines 8-6, Pahrump Valley 6-10 — At Desert Pines, Amador Rivera went 2-for-3 with three RBIs in the opening game to help the Jaguars earn a split of their doubleheader against the Trojans.
Desert Pines used a seven-run sixth inning to erase a 5-1 deficit in the opener.
In the nightcap, Chad Uyeno went 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs to pace the Trojans.
Desert Pines’ Iquan Corsey was 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs and three RBIs in the second game.
Cedar (Utah) 14, Canyon Springs 2 — At Canyon Springs, the Redmen used a seven-run third inning to build a 12-0 lead on their way to a five-inning victory over the Pioneers.
Deshawn Hawkins’ single was Canyon Springs’ only hit.
Liberty 17, Westlake (Utah) 15 — At Liberty, Jay Martz went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, three runs and five RBIs to help the Patriots outslug the Thunder in the Bishop Gorman Desert Classic.
Jesse Keiser went 3-for-4 with three triples, three runs and two RBIs for Liberty, and teammate
Michael Vargas was 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs.
Liberty’s Chad DiGregorio went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and teammate Josh McCollum was 2-for-3 with two runs.
Faith Lutheran 9, Juan Diego (Utah) 0 — At Bishop Gorman, David Edson had two triples and two RBIs as the Crusaders blanked the Soaring Eagles in the Bishop Gorman Desert Classic.
Caleb Summerhays homered and drove in two runs for the Crusaders, who never looked back after scoring four runs in the bottom of the first.
Tyler Trageton added a double and three RBIs, and Josh Murtha doubled and drove in two runs for Faith Lutheran.
Victor Valley Christian (Calif.) 7, Lincoln County 5 — At Mountain View, the Royals took advantage of 10 wild pitches and five stolen bases to hold off the Lynx in the Spring Slam.
Derek Cheeney smacked a double for Lincoln County.
The Meadows 7, Victor Valley Christian (Calif.) 6 — At Mountain View, Trevor Litwin’s two-run double in the sixth inning helped the Mustangs rally to nip the Royals in the Spring Slam.
Brandon Thomas smacked a two-run single to start the scoring in the final-inning sixth for The Meadows, which trailed 5-2.
Justin Diamond followed with a triple to score Thomas, Anthony Gord hit a single, and Litwin cleared the bases with his double.
Adrian Plascensia was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Victor Valley, and teammate Christopher Davidson was 1-for-1 with two walks and three stolen bases.
Battle Mountain 24, Mountain View 1 — At Mountain View, Dwight Douglas notched two triples and a double in the Longhorns’ three-inning rout of the host Saints in the Spring Slam.
David Deandreis hurled a two-hitter with seven strikeouts for Battle Mountain.
Mountain View’s Logan Christie blasted a solo home run in the first inning.
