ROUNDUP: Mill’s late single allows Rancho to nip Coronado

Josh Mill’s two-run single with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning plated the tying and go-ahead runs as Rancho’s baseball team rallied for a 13-11 home victory over Coronado on Tuesday.

Jose Verdugo doubled twice, including a two-run double to key Rancho’s seven-run sixth inning. Eric Allen added an insurance run by stealing home on a throw back to the pitcher, two pitches after Mill’s single.

Cody Howard finished 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and a homer for Coronado, which got a triple and three runs from Dillon Fahr.

Western 11, Del Sol 0 — At Western, Josh Yocum threw a one-hitter and went 2-for-3 with a double as the Warriors topped the Dragons in five innings.

Yocum struck out 12 of the 18 batters he faced.

Ryan Garbowski was 1-for-2 with a home run and five RBIs for Western.

Silverado 10, Eldorado 2 — At Eldorado, Vincent Taormina went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs as the Skyhawks beat the Sundevils.

Josh Bravin and Mark Janosik each went 2-for-3 for Silverado, which had 11 hits.

Brandon Gallegos was 2-for-3 with a double to lead Eldorado.

Cimarron-Memorial 20, Desert Oasis 4 — At Desert Oasis, Tanner McAninch was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs, and the Spartans used an 11-run third inning to pull away from the Diamondbacks.

Jayson Hicks was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Effie Garcia went 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs for Cimarron.

Cody Schmidt was 2-for-2 for Desert Oasis.

Foothill 17, Chaparral 2 — At Chaparral, Kevin Becker went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs, and the Falcons used an eight-run first inning burst to down the Cowboys in five innings.

Tyler Van Stone earned the win with eight strikeouts and no walks for Foothill. Dayton Kurian and Tyler Morris each homered for the Falcons.

Zachary Harmon was 2-for-3 to lead Chaparral.

Green Valley 17, Valley 0 — At Valley, David George went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs as the Gators blanked the Vikings in five innings.

Evan Van Hoosier smacked a triple, and Keaton Smith and Derrick Harmon each hit a double for Green Valley, which pounded out 19 hits.

The Gators pushed across nine runs in the first inning.

Basic 15, Pahrump Valley 5 — At Basic, the Wolves had 17 stolen bases on the way to the five-inning win.

Josh Gray, Dean Gettman and Tyler Long each went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for Basic, which used an eight-run fourth to pull away.

Canyon Springs 19, Virgin Valley 9 — At Canyon Springs, Rusty Marquetti allowed one run in four innings of relief to get the win as the Pioneers defeated the Bulldogs in six innings.

Tajh Kehoe was 3-for-4 for Canyon Springs, which scored eight runs in the fifth to take a 15-8 lead.

Desert Pines 14, Moapa Valley 2 — At Desert Pines, Roberto Hernandez went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, and the Jaguars used a seven-run fourth inning to rout the Pirates in a five-inning game.

Cody Tolliver and Harold Correia each went 2-for-3 for Desert Pines.

Winning pitcher Juan Cruz tossed a five-hitter.

Liberty 10, Las Vegas 10 — At Las Vegas, the Patriots and Wildcats played to a tie in a game called in the bottom of the eighth inning for darkness.

Liberty had scored four runs in the top of the eighth, and led 15-11 with Las Vegas still batting when the game was called.

Michael Vargas went 3-for-4 with a double and a three-run home run for Liberty, which got a double and a homer from Jesse Keiser.

Daniel Ouzts doubled and homered, and Dustin Cash had a double, a triple and four RBIs to lead Las Vegas, which also got a home run from Dillon Dove.

Boulder City 17, Sunrise Mountain 3 — At Sunrise Mountain, Michael Hernandez went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs as the Eagles defeated the Miners in five innings.

Billy Barth was 2-for-3 with three runs for Boulder City.

Needles 5, Parker (Ariz.) 3 — At Needles, Calif., Austin Baldwin’s RBI triple gave the Mustangs a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, and they held on to beat the Broncs.

Matt McAndrews went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles for Needles, and teammate Devin Truscott was 2-for-2 with a double.
