ROUNDUP: Yocum’s fourth-inning heroics help Warriors outlast Mountain Lions

Winning pitcher Josh Yocum hit an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth inning to break a 2-2 tie, and Western’s baseball team held on to top visiting Sierra Vista, 3-2 on Monday.

Yocum went the distance, allowing five hits in recording the win.

Anthony Chojnacki went 2-for-3 with a double to help Western.

Connor Klein was 3-for-5 to lead Sierra Vista.

Faith Lutheran 5, Centennial 4 — At Faith Lutheran, David Edson went 3-for-3, including a walk-off home run with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, to lift the Crusaders past the Bulldogs.

Michael Yenkowski went 2-for-4 with a double to lead Centennial, which rallied to tie the score 4-4 in the top of the seventh to set up Edson’s heroics.

Cimarron-Memorial 3, Arbor View 2 — At Arbor View, Josh Nuernberg threw a four-hitter with nine strikeouts to help the Spartans edge the Aggies.

Dominic Calabria had two RBIs for Cimarron, which scored twice in the top of the sixth to take a 3-1 lead.

Nate Stepna had a double and two runs for Arbor View.

Spring Valley 6, Bonanza 1 — At Spring Valley, Dylan Drachler threw a five-hitter with seven strikeouts to lead the Grizzlies past the Bengals.

Michael Macove went 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs, and Drachler had two RBIs for Spring Valley.

Drew LaComb and Robby Brewster each added two hits for the Grizzlies.

Jake Zebe and Travis Ming each had two hits for Bonanza.

Pahrump Valley 5, Clark 4 — At Clark, Aukai Alameda and Roy Uyeno combined on a seven-hitter as the Trojans held off the Chargers.

Richard Green was 2-for-3 for Pahrump.

Legacy 14, Mojave 2 — At Mojave, Kyle Peeler went 2-for-2 to help the Longhorns roll to a five-inning win over the Rattlers.

Joey Ingarra added a home run for Legacy, which took over with a six-run third inning.

Jordan Gainey went 2-for-3 to lead Mojave.

Shadow Ridge 18, Cheyenne 0 — At Cheyenne, the Mustangs had five doubles en route to an 18-0 five-inning victory over the Desert Shields.

Casey Rice pitched a four-hitter for Shadow Ridge, striking out nine.

Liberty 16, Tech 0 — At Tech, Dan Skelly went 3-for-4 with with a double, a home run and three RBIs, and the Patriots exploded for a 12-run third inning in routing the Roadrunners.

Jay Martz and Chris Bratz each went 2-for-4 for Liberty, with Martz adding a double and two RBIs.

Griffin Kelly went 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs for the Patriots.

Green Valley 15, Palo Verde 1 — At Palo Verde, Alec Hutt was 3-for-4 with a home run and two doubles to help the Gators cruise past the Panthers in five innings.

Derrick Harmon went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs to help Green Valley, which also got a home run from Evan Van Hoosier.

Bryan Baugh threw a one-hitter with eight strikeouts to get the win.

The only Palo Verde hit was a first-inning single by Chris Hopballe.

Coronado 20, Canyon Springs 0 — At Coronado, Chad Scott, Jeff Belknap and Michael Pollex combined for a five-inning no-hitter as the Cougars blew out the Pioneers.

Scott struck out eight in three innings to get the win.

Kendall Schoen went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored for Coronado.

Cain Brady also went 3-for-3 for the Cougars, adding a RBI and two runs.
