ROUNDUP: Cheyenne’s Organ beats buzzer, Legacy’s boys

Brian Organ’s buzzer-beating layup Wednesday lifted Cheyenne’s boys basketball team to a 71-70 win at Legacy.

Legacy’s Sian Laine hit both ends of a 1-and-1 to give the Longhorns a 70-69 lead with six seconds to play, but the Desert Shields responded by finding Organ for the winning shot.

Jaylen Henry led Cheyenne with 16 points. Chris McCall scored 13 and Xavian Johnson had 11 for the Desert Shields.

Laine paced the Longhorns with 20 points and nine assists. Samuel Johnson added 17 points and 13 rebounds, and Ira Haywood scored 17 for Legacy.

Palo Verde 62, Arbor View 60 — At Arbor View, Moses Morgan’s 15-foot jumper at the regulation buzzer allowed Palo Verde to nip the Aggies.

Arbor View’s Chase Ealy drained a 3-pointer to tie the game with two seconds remaining. Time expired before Palo Verde could set up a play, but game officials ruled there were two seconds remaining.

The Panthers inbounded the ball to half-court and quickly passed to Morgan, who hit the game-winner.

Morgan finished with 23 points, and Andrew Topham added 13.

Darington Banks led the Aggies with 24 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Maiscei Grier added 16 points for Arbor View.

Cimarron-Memorial 78, Mojave 46 — At Cimarron, Kevin Olekaibe led all scorers with 22 points, and Leo Bermudez provided 20 points and eight rebounds as the Spartans raced to a 22-6 first quarter lead and cruised past the Rattlers.

Kevin Brown contributed 11 rebounds for the Spartans, who led 48-22 at the half.

Royale Jackson led Mojave with 17 points.

Shadow Ridge 62, Faith Lutheran 42 — At Shadow Ridge, Jordan Brown scored 11 points, and Joseph Pearson added 10 as the Mustangs rolled past the Crusaders.

Wade Norman scored 15 points and Joe Portaro contributed 10 for Faith Lutheran.

Rancho 77, Las Vegas 71 — At Rancho, Amir Royal scored 22 points, and Tyler Gaston contributed 12 points and 15 rebounds as the Rams edged the Wildcats.

Tyree Anderson led Las Vegas with 31 points, and Hasaan Henderson added 20.

Valley 62, Eldorado 55 — At Eldorado, Khristian Kirkwood scored 23 points as the Vikings downed Eldorado.

Curtis Stewart added 17 points, and Shawn Carter had 15 for Eldorado.

Desert Pines 93, Sunrise Mountain 67— At Sunrise Mountain, Chancellor Davis pumped in a game-high 27 points as the Jaguars bolted to a 23-12 first-quarter lead and went on to whip the Miners.

Tyler Larson scored 19 points, and Dominique Lawrence added 12 for Desert Pines, which used a 31-17 third-quarter burst to put the game out of reach.

Shmarlio Tolliver had 18 points for Sunrise Mountain. Matt Marshall added 12 points and Jaleel Hall scored 10 for the Miners.

 

Spring Mountain 60, Indian Springs 46 — At Saville Middle School, De’Andre Hampton scored 21 points to lead the Eagles past the Thunderbirds.

Leon Saunders added 17 points for Spring Mountain, which led 20-6 after the first quarter.

Adam Reinke paced Indian Springs with 22 points.
