1A GIRLS HONORS: Dominating Panthers command league awards
It’s hard to imagine Pahranagat Valley’s girls basketball team being more dominant in the Class 1A Southern League.
The Panthers (19-8) won their six league games by an average of 36.3 points on their way to the state title, won Saturday with a 51-42 victory over Eureka at the Orleans Arena.
Pahranagat Valley was rewarded for that dominance in league honors recently voted upon by coaches.
Junior guard Halie Lewis was named Most Valuable Player after averaging 15.5 points in two league tournament wins, including 22 in a league final rout of Tonopah.
The Panthers also landed senior post Dakota Day and senior guard Alyssa Higbee on the first team, while freshman forward Kimberly Lewis and freshman guard Bailee Hosier received second-team honors.
First-team honors also went to Tonopah guard Summer Ashby, Lund forward Melynda Boren and Beatty forward Amber Ibarra.
