After missing all six of his shots in the first half, Dylan Hushaw scored 17 second-half points to help Foothill beat the Skyhawks 69-61 in the quarterfinals of the Las Vegas Prep Championship at Las Vegas High.
Savio Rivera made five 3-pointers and shot 12-for-12 from the free-throw line en route to a game-high 33 points in the Centennial boys basketball team’s 74-59 home win over Las Vegas High on Tuesday night.
Alexis Lea scored 10 points, including 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in the final 40 seconds, to help Basic’s girls basketball team secure a 45-41 home victory over Boulder City on Tuesday night.
Shania Harper fell just shy of a double-double average last season, logging 9.6 points and 11.3 rebounds per game for Sierra Vista. But a breakout summer helped her secure ascholarship to New Mexico State, and has prepared her to stake a claim as one of the best players in the Las Vegas Valley.
Bishop Gorman’s Zaon Collins is a slender 6-foot guard, probably tipping the scales at 150 pounds. But when the game’s on the line, Collins has shown he’s tough enough to carry a team.
