Carmell, Eagles escape with OT win at Sunrise Mountain

Quarterback Trenton Carmell ran in a 2-point conversion in overtime Thursday to help Boulder City’s football team escape with a 49-48 win at Sunrise Mountain
Carmell completed 8 of 12 for 164 yards and a touchdown. He also had three 1-yard touchdown runs, including one in overtime. Carmell also intercepted two passes on defense.
His quarterback sneak for a score with 1:52 remaining sent the game into overtime.
Junior running back Logan Branscum rushed 10 times for 93 yards, caught three passes for 80 yards and scored two touchdowns for Boulder City (4-2, 2-1 Sunrise League).
Wanya Calahan led Sunrise Mountain (0-6, 0-4) with 261 yards and two TDs on 18 carries. Calahan was back in the lineup after missing time with a dislocated elbow.
Miners’ quarterback Damon Heard filled in for injured Matt Perry and completed 6 of 11 passes for 120 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He had a 4-yard TD run in overtime.
