Dabbs leads Sundevils to first win

Eldorado's Devin Dabbs passed for 186 yards and a touchdown to lead the Sundevils to a 28-6 home win over Bonanza for their first win of the seasons.

DeShawn Williams had 20 carries for 102 yards for Bonanza (2-3).

After a scoreless first quarter, Eldorado (1-3) struck first with a 1-yard touchdown run by Dabbs with 4:43 to go in the second quarter. Anthony Silva set up the scoring plunge with a 63-yard run.

Dabbs found Carl Crayon for a 33-yard touchdown passm extending the Sundevils' lead to 14-0 with 0:48 left in the second quarter.

Bonanza quarterback Joey Fox left the game with an injury late in the second quarter and backup Wyatt Allison played the entire second half. Allison finished 8 of 23 for 117 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions.

Trailing 14-0, Allison hit Jacob Perez for a 13-yard touchdown pass to bring Bonanza within a touchdown with 6:35 remaining in the third quarter. Allison's pass to Williams for a 2-point conversion was deflected out of bounds, leaving the score at 14-6.

Eldorado added to their lead with a 41-yard touchdown on a reverse pass from wide receiver Shane Barnes to Dakota Lomansey with 6:05 left to play.

"We worked all week and stuck together," Barnes said. 'We really wanted this win tonight and we went out and got it."

With the game all but sealed for Eldorado, backup quarterback Jaime Rangle found Barnes for an 84-yard touchdown to put Eldorado ahead 28-6 with 1:18 to play.

"Our guys knew they had an opportunity this week and they capitalized on it," Eldorado coach Robert Cutts said.
