ROUNDUP: Patriots top Silverado, keep playoff hopes alive
April Ficarrotta and Ari Gonzalez each scored a goal Monday as Liberty’s girls soccer team kept its playoff hopes alive with a 2-0 win at Silverado.
The Patriots have 17 points in Southeast League play to trail both Foothill and Silverado by two points for third place. Liberty hosts Foothill on Wednesday in a game the Patriots must win in order to qualify for the Sunrise Region tournament.
Rebecca Rodriguez recorded the shutout for Liberty.
Foothill 2, Basic 0 — At Basic, Marissa Milne and Drea Austin each had a goal to lift the Falcons over the Wolves.
Kimberly Callen had seven saves in the shutout.
Green Valley 9, Del Sol 0 — At Green Valley, Rachael King had two goals and an assist, and Gray Taylor and Cassidy McLean each added a goal and two assists as the Gators blanked the Dragons.
Faith Ezelle, Londyn Lopez, Alex Adams and Paulina Buskas each scored a goal for Green Valley, which wrapped up at least a share of their third straight Southeast League title and the league’s top seed for the Sunrise tourney.
Nicole Dunn was in goal for the shutout.
Coronado 6, Tech 0 — At Coronado, Morgan Mavroudis netted three goals, and Gabrielle Morris scored twice as the Cougars downed the Roadrunners.
Aubrey Madden added a goal and an assist, and Nia Moreno dished out two assists for Coronado.
Kaitlyn Fahrner and Melanie Frank combined on the shutout.
Valley 3, Canyon Springs 3 — At Canyon Springs, Aliya Salas scored her third goal with less than four minutes remaining to allow the Vikings to tie the Pioneers.
Rosaura Guerrero-Escobedo netted two goals, and Haleigh Arnold added a goal and an assist for Canyon Springs.
Rancho 4, Chaparral 1 — At Rancho, Chanel Eliason scored twice, and the Rams clinched a playoff spot with a win over the Cowboys.
Rae Ann Wlitshire and Ashley Labarre also scored for Rancho.
Rosa Martinez netted Chaparral’s goal.
Eldorado 4, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Sunrise Mountain, Ruby Arias had a goal and an assist as the Sundevils blanked the Miners.
Teresa Barajas, Lizbeth Mendoza and Alexis Sama each tallied a goal for Eldorado, which did all of its scoring in the first half.
Nias Olaiz made 11 saves en route to the shutout.
Las Vegas 7, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, Vanessa Martinez scored four times to lead the Wildcats over the Jaguars.
Mackenzie McCoy, Alica Nunez and Andrea Vidales each added a goal, and Lauryn Horstdaniel was credited with the shutout.
