Jared Smith carded his second straight 1-under-par 71 to easily win the Class 3A boys state golf tournament. He’s the first Western player to win the individual title since Joel Kijowski in 1996. Boulder City captured the team title for the first time since 2006, winning by one stroke over Spring Creek.
Sharmayne Finley scored a game-high 45 points Friday to lead Democracy Prep’s girls basketball team to a 64-60 overtime victory over host Needles.
Dylan Coffman rushed for 67 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries on Friday to lead host Pahrump Valley to a 30-14 win over Boulder City.
