After being pulled earlier in the game when she got a little woozy in the heat, Kayla Coles re-entered and blasted a solo home run to help Rancho to an 8-0 win over Liberty in the Sunrise final at Bishop Gorman. It’s the first region title for Rancho, which will compete for its third state title next week in Reno.

Winning pitcher Skylar Gorrell was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and the Las Vegas High softball team rallied from a 5-2 sixth-inning deficit to earn an 11-7 win at Green Valley on Monday.

GOLF: Panthers place four under par, down Arbor View

Jack Trent shot a 3-under-par 33 at Paiute on Monday to earn medalist honors and lead the Palo Verde boys golf team to a 173-199 win over Arbor View. The Panthers had four players shoot under par in the match.
