Megan Barrera’s single to right field plated Cori Sutton with the game-winning run in the 10th inning Friday as Green Valley’s softball team rallied for an 8-7 win to salvage a doubleheader split at Shadow Ridge.
Sutton led off the inning with a single, and moved to third on Fenixx Henderson’s double that set the stage for Barrera’s heroics.
Henderson was 2-for-5 with a double for Green Valley, and Anysa Calderon went 2-for-5. Autumn Owens and Marissa Iwanylo each hit a double for the Gators in the nightcap.
Danette Daguiar went 4-for-6 with a triple for Shadow Ridge, and Krislyn Campos was 3-for-5 with a double.
In the opener, Justin Garganese went 3-for-3 with three doubles as the Mustangs defeated the Gators, 5-4.
Campos went 2-for-3 for Shadow Ridge, which used a three-run fifth to hold off a late rally.
Owens went 2-for-3 with a home run and a double for Green Valley, and Calderon finished 2-for-3.
