Shelbi Denman threw 157 pitches to lift Shadow Ridge’s softball team to a 9-7 six-inning victory over North Torrance (California) on Friday in the quarterfinals of the Spring Jamboree at Majestic Park.
Marisa Olmos went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs, and Liberty’s softball team scored twice in the top of the eighth inning to rally for a 10-8 victory over host Basic on Tuesday.
After being pulled earlier in the game when she got a little woozy in the heat, Kayla Coles re-entered and blasted a solo home run to help Rancho to an 8-0 win over Liberty in the Sunrise final at Bishop Gorman. It’s the first region title for Rancho, which will compete for its third state title next week in Reno.
Denman threw a six-hitter to help Shadow Ridge to a 4-3 win over Palo Verde in the Sunset final at Bishop Gorman. Shadow Ridge (30-5) advances to the state tournament next week in Reno.
Hood threw a four-hitter and retired 19 consecutive batters at one point to lead the Grizzlies to a 3-2 win in the Division I-A Southern Region title game at Boulder City.
Brook Higbee went 3-for-3 with a double and a home run Saturday to lead Pahranagat Valley to an 18-4 victory over visiting Indian Springs for the Division IV Southern League tournament title.

Bryce Henricksen went 3-for-3 with a double Thursday to help the Arbor View softball team to an 8-5 win over visiting Legacy.
Liberty scored three runs with no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to stun visiting defending Sunrise Region champion Foothill 10-9 in the Division I Sunrise League opener.
Winning pitcher Skylar Gorrell was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and the Las Vegas High softball team rallied from a 5-2 sixth-inning deficit to earn an 11-7 win at Green Valley on Monday.
Makall Whetten’s first three trips to the plate Thursday were anything but memorable.
Sierra Vista softball coach Keith Ulrich felt his team played with a great deal of energy in the opening round of the Division I-A state tournament on Thursday.
