ROUNDUP: Bulldogs slide past Tech on bases-loaded hit by pitch

Kayli Hughes was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in Alora Bonner with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday as Virgin Valley’s softball team rallied with three runs in the seventh to nip visiting Tech, 15-14.

Lexi Barnum went 4-for-5 with a double, and Amanda Stenberg was 3-for-5 with a triple for the Bulldogs.

Austyn Dziewit was 5-for-6 with two doubles for Tech.

Coronado 6, Torrance (Calif.) 5 — At Torrance, Calif., Basia Query’s two-out, two-run double capped a five-run seventh inning as the Cougars rallied past the host Tartars in the Torrance National Tournament.

Jaiden Johnson’s bunt single started the seventh. A single by Katie Dawson and a walk to Nicole Hardy loaded the bases.

Tristen McKinnon’s RBI single made it 5-2, and an error by the Torrance shortstop cut the lead to 5-3.
Hardy scored on a wild pitch, and two outs later, Query doubled to plate McKinnon and Haley Harrison.

Alex Battest homered in the second inning for Coronado.

Centennial 6, Redondo Union (Calif.) 4 — At Torrance, Calif., Lauren Stroman’s two-out, two-run single in the top of the fifth inning broke a 3-3 tie and lifted the Bulldogs by Redondo Union in the Torrance National Tournament.

Madison Henzlik was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Mia Acuna was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Centennial.

Cimarron-Memorial 7-4, Faith Lutheran 0-6 — At Faith Lutheran, Alexa Snyder tossed a five-hitter with five strikeouts in the opener as the Spartans split a doubleheader with the Crusaders.

Sarah Murphy had two hits, a run and an RBI for Cimarron in the opener.

In the nightcap, Vanessa Valdez’s two-run double in the sixth inning allowed the Crusaders to rally from a 4-3 deficit and salvage the split.

North Torrance (Calif.) 9, Green Valley 0 — At Torrance, Calif., Bryanna Ybarra went 4-for-4 with six RBIs to lead the Saxons over the Gators in the Torrance National Tournament.

Autumn Owens and Tara Hilton had the Gators’ two hits.

Grand Terrace (Calif.) 6, Arbor View 0 — At Torrance, Calif., Grand Terrace used a pair of three-run innings to top the Aggies in the Torrance National Tournament.

Karli Lehr was 2-for-2, and Letty Valenzuela went 2-for-3 for Arbor View.

Eldorado 17, Canyon Springs 4 — At Eldorado, winning pitcher Keelyn Pacheco went 3-for-3 with three RBIs to lead the Sundevils over the Pioneers in five innings.

Valerie Ramirez was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Kerrigan Holman added a double and two RBIs for Eldorado.

Emilee Kaye went 2-for-3 for Canyon Springs.

Desert Oasis 12, Del Sol 1 — At Del Sol, Shonda Badayos went 3-for-4 with a triple and tossed a five-inning two-hitter to lead the Diamondbacks by the Dragons.

Legacy 19, Western 0 — At Legacy, Kellie Nelson spun a five-inning one-hitter to give the Longhorns an easy win over the Warriors.

Gabby Rinker went 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs, and Kaya Maligia doubled twice for Legacy, which got two hits from Kiana Elia-Mendiola.

Belinda Sandoval had Western’s lone single.

Lake Mead 30-19, Calvary Chapel 1-9 — At Lake Mead, Taylor Vetter was 7-for-9 with eight RBIs to lead the Eagles to the doubleheader sweep.

Taylor Badua-Kono was 6-for-7 with a double and four RBIs and also picked up two pitching victories.
