ROUNDUP: Newhard’s extra-inning single gives Cimarron edge

Madison Newhard’s two-out single in the 10th inning Friday plated Nora Murphy with the winning run as Cimarron-Memorial’s softball team outlasted visiting Boulder City, 5-4.

Murphy, who went 2-for-3, walked with one out and stole second and third before coming home on Newhard’s hit.

Starlyn Thomas was 3-for-4, and Carrie Sheehan and Newhard each finished 2-for-4 for the Spartans.

Ariel O’Neill batted 3-for-4 for the Eagles.

Tech 13, Sunrise Mountain 2 — At Sunrise Mountain, Nicole Lesniak went 3-for-4 with a triple and two doubles, and also tossed a five-inning five-hitter to lead Tech past the Miners.

Amanda Roark went 3-for-3 with four RBIs for the Roadrunners.

Canyon View (Utah) 7, Bonanza 6 — At Bonanza, Canyon View scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning and held off a late rally to nip the Bengals.

Michelle Miller went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs for Bonanza, and teammate Courtney Spencer was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Cheyenne 6, Rancho 0 — At Cheyenne, Rachel Holly pitched a three-hitter to lead the Desert Shields past the Rams.

Holly struck out six and walked none. It was her third straight game without issuing a walk.

Bailey Benson went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs, and Holly was 2-for-4 with a run and four RBIs to lead the offense.

Lindsey Galindo and Melanie Manley each added two hits and an RBI for Cheyenne.

Clark 10, Valley 0 — At Clark, Julia Hagen tossed a one-hitter to lead the Chargers to a five-inning victory over the Vikings.

Hagen also led Clark’s offense, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Teammate Kaitlyn Szeles went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.

Mickayla Romero had Valley’s only hit, a second-inning single.

Del Sol 15, Sierra Vista 4 — At Del Sol, Stephanie Keller went 3-for-3 with a triple and four runs as the Dragons blitzed the Mountain Lions.

Ruthie Torrez was 3-for-4, and Christine Marshall, Desiree Orozco and Brittany Belin added two hits apiece for Del Sol.

Michelle Estelle hit 2-for-2, and Nikki Stever finished 2-for-3 for Sierra Vista.

Westview (Ore.) 14, Bishop Gorman 7 — At Gorman, Westview jumped out to an 8-0 lead after four innings and held off the Gaels.

O’Sheyon Rollins and Alexandria Gordon each went 3-for-4 with two runs for Gorman.

Green Valley 5, Seton Keough (Md.) 2 — At Huntington Beach, Calif., Carly Aughney’s two-run single in the top of the eighth inning helped the Gators top Seton Keough in the Faster to First tournament.

With tie-breaker rules in effect and each team starting the eighth inning with a runner on second base, Ali Bodnar and Alicia Firelein each hit into a fielder’s choice to load the bases before Aughney’s hit drove in the two runs.

Firelein scored after Aughney stole second base.

Bodnar also hit a solo home run for Green Valley.

Mortimer Jordan (Ala.) 12, Foothill 0 — At Huntington Beach, Calif., Mortimer Jordan allowed three hits and shut out Foothill in the Faster to First tournament.

Myranda Mortel went 2-for-2 for the Falcons.

St. Benedict (Tenn.) 3, Foothill 0 — At Huntington Beach, Calif., St. Benedict scored all three of its runs in the first inning and held on to top the Falcons in the Faster to First tournament.

Lauren Penksa went 2-for-3 for Foothill.

Virgin Valley 8-3, Moapa Valley 6-7 — At Overton, Kaylee King pitched a two-hitter in the nightcap as Moapa Valley salvaged a split with the Bulldogs.

King allowed no earned runs in the second game. She struck out 13 in the doubleheader.

White Pine 16-11, The Meadows 0-1 — At The Meadows, White Pine used a 14-run third inning in the opening game on its way to a sweep of the Mustangs.

Indian Springs 22-13, Sandy Valley 2-0 — At Indian Springs, Heather Thormahlen hit for the cycle in the opener and finished the day 8-for-8 with two home runs, a triple and two doubles as the Thunderbirds blitzed Sandy Valley.

Brandi Bryl went 3-for-3 with two home runs and a double in the opener, then hit 3-for-3 with a home run and two doubles in the nightcap.

Tessa Lounsbury was 2-for-3 in the opener and went 3-for-3 with a double in the second game as Indian Springs outhit the Sidewinders 31-3 in both games.

Henderson International 15-20, Tonopah 0-0 — At Henderson International, Lee Harrison went 6-for-8 with five extra-base hits and 13 RBIs as the Wolverines swept Tonopah.

Harrison went 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs in the opener, then went 4-for-4 with a home run, triple, two doubles and eight RBIs in the nightcap.

Harrison and Natasha Chapman combined on a five-inning no-hitter in the opener, with Harrison striking out six in two innings.

Haley Schulz pitched a one-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks in the second game.

Pamela Sakuma had a combined four hits for the Wolverines through both games.

Lake Mead 17-16, Beatty 2-0 — At Beatty, Emma Khachikian went 3-for-4 in the opener and 2-for-4 in the nightcap as Lake Mead twice blitzed the Hornets.

Annabelle Liston and Amanda Wellman each had three of the Eagles’ 17 hits in the opener. Liston drove in three runs, and Wellman scored three times.

In the second game, Jocelyn Cox went 3-for-3 and scored two runs for Lake Mead.

Pahranagat Valley 20-17, Round Mountain 0-1 — At Round Mountain, Addie Canning spun a five-inning perfect game with 12 strikeouts in the opener as Pahranagat Valley swept the Knights.

Tami Spencer went 3-for-5 with a home run and a double, and Canning homered and had three RBIs for the Panthers in the opener.

In the nightcap, Spencer was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and teammates Stevie Horrocks and Emily Thatcher each went 2-for-3. Horrocks also had two RBIs for the Panthers.
