SMALL SCHOOLS: Bryl’s big day helps Thunderbirds to win

Brandi Bryl went 4-for-4 with a triple, a home run and four RBIs and was the winning pitcher to lead Indian Springs’ softball team to an 8-2 win over Tonopah in the Class 1A Southern League Tournament on Thursday at Alamo.

Bryl allowed seven hits to get the win. She struck out seven with no walks.

Heather Thormahlen was 3-for-4 with a triple for Indian Springs (17-7), which advanced to play Pahranagat Valley (16-8) at 2 p.m. Friday.

Alexxa Reinke added a double and a triple for Indian Springs.

Pahranagat Valley 15, Sandy Valley 0 — At Alamo, Kyla Mortensen threw a two-hitter as the Panthers rolled over the Sidewinders (1-11) in the Class 1A Southern League Tournament.

Mortensen struck out nine, walked two and also hit a double for Pahranagat Valley.

Lineti Lasike hit a two-run homer, and Tami Spencer went 3-for-4 for the Panthers.

CLASS 2A

Needles 10, Calvary Chapel 0 — At Needles, Abby Chandler pitched a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts and went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI as the Mustangs (21-7) beat the Lions (11-10) in six innings in the Class 2A Southern League Tournament.

Holly Laswell went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Needles, which pounded out 17 hits. Gena Chavira was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for the Mustangs.

Phallen Nelson doubled for Calvary Chapel.

Lincoln County 14, Mountain View 0 — At Needles, K.C. Jensen spun a five-inning perfect game with eight strikeouts as the Lynx (20-6-1) routed the Saints (9-19).

Jensen also drove in two runs for Lincoln County, and Melanie Florence went 3-for-3 with a solo home run.

Mountain View pitcher Lexi Alley had five strikeouts.
