SOFTBALL: Embro, Eagles rally to top Crusaders

Jessica Embro singled home the tying runs with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning and scored the winning run with two outs as Boulder City’s softball team rallied past visiting Faith Lutheran, 5-4 on Friday.

The Eagles trailed 4-2 before Alyssa Ybarra started the seventh-inning rally with a one-out single. After Kylee Hamel reached on an error, Embro singled to drive in two runs and tie the game.

Embro moved to second on a groundout and to third on Bryanna Lopez’s single before Jordan Moorhead reached on an error that allowed Embro to score.

Ybarra was 2-for-4 for Boulder City.

Charlene Masterson tossed a three-hitter and struck out 11 for the Eagles.

Arbor View 11, Elko 1 — At Mesquite, Taylor Thomas threw a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks to lead the Aggies to the five-inning win over the Indians in the Desert Winds Classic.

Ke’Anna Kamaka was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Aggies, who face Foothill in the championship game at noon Saturday.

Arbor View 7, Cheyenne 5 — At Mesquite, Kayla Stephens was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs as the Aggies rallied to beat the Desert Shields in five innings in the Desert Winds Classic.

Kellie Anderson was 3-for-4, and Kamaka, Sarah Bradford and Marissa Bachman each went 2-for-3 for Arbor View, which trailed 5-0 after one inning.

Italy Mora had a double and two RBIs for Cheyenne.

Cheyenne 16, Virgin Valley 1 — At Mesquite, Victoria Rosales went 2-for-2 with five RBIs as the Desert Shields routed the Bulldogs in the Desert Winds Classic.

Jonnette Paddy picked up the win, allowing one run on two hits while striking out three in the four-inning game.

Rancho 6, Shadow Ridge 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Samantha Pochop pitched a two-hitter to lead the Rams past the Mustangs in a game shortened to six innings by darkness.

Pochop struck out 11 and did not walk a batter.

Tiare Lee doubled and drove in two runs, and Katerina Anthony added a double and an RBI for Rancho.

Shelbi Denman took the loss for the Mustangs despite allowing just two runs on one hit and two walks in 4 1/3 innings.

Basic 5, Las Vegas 2 — At Stephanie Lynn Craig Park, Courtney Huff went 2-for-3 with an RBI to help the Wolves top the Wildcats.

Rebecca Pullen tossed a six-hitter and struck out two for Basic, which did all of its scoring in the first three innings.

Samantha Taylor was 2-for-4 for Las Vegas.

Canyon Springs 11, Clark 7 — At Canyon Springs, Wendy Vargas had a double and three RBIs to help the Pioneers beat the Chargers.

Loriann Acosta added a two-run single for Canyon Springs, which scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth.

The Pioneers managed just three hits, but drew 15 walks.

Western 15, Del Sol 0 — At Del Sol, Alexis Maeoki went 3-for-3 with a triple and a double to help the Warriors rout the Dragons in four innings.

Jennessa Dunton doubled twice, and winning pitcher Lita Maeoki was 2-for-3 with a double for Western.

Jazmine Rivera had Del Sol’s lone hit.

Mountain View 23, The Meadows 3 — At Mountain View, Savannah Alley tossed a five-inning three-hitter and went 1-for-2 with three RBIs as the Saints routed the Mustangs.

Elle Germany was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI for Mountain View, which scored nine runs in the second inning and 10 in the fourth.

Amanda Hansen was 1-for-3 with a double for The Meadows.
