SOFTBALL: Ray’s single helps Trailblazers rally for win

Tori Ray’s two-run single in the top of the seventh inning Thursday allowed Durango’s softball team to rally for a 5-4 win at Spring Valley.

Ray’s hit plated Gabriela Morgan and Cheyanne Haas with the tying and go-ahead runs.

Winning pitcher Dallas Boyce went 3-for-4 and scored a run, and Mallory Lawson was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Trailblazers.

Spring Valley’s Raven Bierlein was 2-for-2 with a triple, and Ellie Endsley went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI for the Grizzlies.

Shadow Ridge 2, Sierra Vista 1 — At Shadow Ridge, Tana Feiner tossed a three-hitter and struck out nine, and the Mustangs scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to nip the Mountain Lions.

Marisa Miano’s RBI double plated Samaiya Montgomery with the first run for Shadow Ridge, and Miano came around to score on consecutive errors.

Sierra Vista’s Kalei Watkins allowed just two hits and struck out 12.

Palo Verde 6, Arbor View 1 — At Palo Verde, Melissa Lacro went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs to help the Panthers top the Aggies.

Rachel Williams went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Haley Harrison was 2-for-4 with two doubles for Palo Verde, which also got a two-run home run from Brooke Stover.

Haylee Lupinetti tossed a six-hitter for Palo Verde.

Ashlyn Ames was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Arbor View. Stephanie Huff went 2-for-3, and Dacia Sykes was 2-for-4 for the Aggies.

Basic 6, Cheyenne 3 — At Basic, Paige Blake was 3-for-4 with an RBI to help the Wolves down the Desert Shields.

Jessica Clifford was 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI, and Teuila Sheehan went 1-for-2 with a run for Basic, which scored five runs in the fourth inning.

Destiny Gain was 2-for-2 with a run, and Sabrina Stafford went 2-for-3 with a run for Cheyenne.

Las Vegas, 3, Valley 1 — At Valley, Samantha Taylor tossed a three-hitter to lead the Wildcats over the Vikings.

Cierra Turner was 2-for-3 and scored a run for Las Vegas.

Moapa Valley 11, Virgin Valley 5 — At Overton, Makendie Frei pitched a five-hitter and struck out nine to help the Pirates top the Bulldogs.

Makayla Jackson was 2-for-4 with a double, and Bailey Owens was 2-for-4 for Moapa Valley.

Maggie Dobbs went 2-for-3 for Virgin Valley.

Rancho 14, Canyon Springs 1 — At Rancho, Tiare Lee went 2-for-2 with a triple and five RBIs as the Rams routed the Pioneers in five innings.

Katerina Anthony and Kayla Coles combined on a one-hitter for the Rams.

Sammi Llamas added a two-run double for Rancho.

Emilee Kaye’s RBI double in the first inning was Canyon Springs’ lone hit.

Sunrise Mountain 18, Chaparral 5 — At Chaparral, winning pitcher Andrea Garner went 3-for-4 with a double, and the Miners used a nine-run fifth inning to rout the Cowboys in six innings.

Natalie Sharp went 2-for-3 for Sunrise Mountain.

Nayeli Rivas was 1-for-3 with a double for Chaparral.

Boulder City 17, Desert Pines 1 — At Desert Pines, Mikaela Brown threw a three-hitter with nine strikeouts and went 2-for-3 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs to help the Eagles rout the Jaguars in five innings.

Katlyn Jackson went 3-for-3 with a triple, three runs and an RBI, and Kaila Davis was 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs for Boulder City.

Jessica Embro and Megan Morton each added three hits for the Eagles.

Mountain View 28-16, The Meadows 4-6 — At Mountain View, Tayah De’Bouck went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and four runs in the opener as the Saints swept the Mustangs in a pair of five-inning games.

Savannah Alley was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and three runs, and Rose Adkins was 2-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs in the finale for Mountain View. Elle Germany was 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and three runs in the second game for the Saints.

Missy Siegel went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs in the opener and 2-for-2 with a triple, a double, a run and an RBI in the nightcap for the Mustangs.
