Desert Region: Coronado clips Durango in five-set thriller

The host Cougars, trailing 12-8 in the decisive fifth set, rattled off seven consecutive points and eked out a 20-25, 25-21, 15-25, 25-17, 15-12 victory over the Trailblazers. Coronado advanced to the Desert Region championship against Bishop Gorman.

Desert Region: Liberty continues surprise run with win over Desert Oasis

The suddenly hot Liberty Patriots won for the third consecutive time, avenging a regular-season loss in the process with a 25-20, 13-25, 25-18, 25-18 victory over Desert Oasis in a Sunset Region quarterfinal at Bishop Gorman.

Roundup: Western rallies for five-set win

Destiny Dobiesz had 36 assists and seven aces Monday to lead the Western girls volleyball team to a 31-29, 14-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-7 road win over Somerset-Losee.

Roundup: Desert Oasis gets by Liberty in five sets

Kierston-Joy Kuresa had nine kills, two aces and 20 digs to propel Desert Oasis’ girls volleyball team to a 25-22, 25-21, 24-26, 23-25, 15-5 home win over Liberty on Thursday night.

Roundup: Liberty takes down Spring Valley in 5 sets

Aiyana Evans tallied 17 assists and three aces for Liberty’s girls volleyball team Tuesday, and Alana Chun notched 17 digs as the host Patriots outlasted Spring Valley, 25-21, 20-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-7.

Roundup: Jaylin Ellis keys Durango victory

Jaylin Ellis had 15 kills and 13 digs on Friday to help host Durango’s girls volleyball team to a 25-12, 26-24, 21-25, 25-12 win over Centennial.
