BOYS TRACK: Carrico helps Mustangs to narrow win in three-team meet

Joshua Carrico won two events Tuesday to lead Shadow Ridge’s boys track team to victory in a three-team meet at Palo Verde.

Carrico won the 200-meter dash in 22.8 seconds, and took the 400 in 50.8 as the Mustangs finished with 69½ points to top Palo Verde (65) and The Meadows (12½).

De-Zhon Rogers won the long jump (17 feet, 6 inches) and ran on the winning 400 relay team for Shadow Ridge. Rogers also placed second in the 200 and third in the 100.

Hykeem Massey won the 110 hurdles (17.2) and high jump (5-6) for Palo Verde.

Bulldogs top Spartans

At Cimarron-Memorial, Anyah Nutter won two events and was second in another to lead Centennial to a 131-47 win over the Spartans.

Nutter won the 110 hurdles in 15.0, and cleared 6-6 in the high jump. He also was second in the 200.

Dajour Braxton won the 1,600 (4:30.45) and 3,200 (9:52.6) for the Bulldogs.

Trailblazers win three-team meet

At Durango, Victor Ross won two events to help the Trailblazers win a three-team meet over Sierra Vista and Calvary Chapel.

Durango had 109 points. The Mountain Lions finished with 40 points and Calvary Chapel 26.

Ross won the 110 hurdles in 16.5 and the high jump score with 6-0.

Sierra Vista’s Andrew Peterson won the 100 in 11.01 and the long jump with an effort of 20-0. Calvary Chapel’s Chris Basilio won the 300 hurdles (45.8) and the triple jump (39-0).

Aggies rout Grizzlies

At Arbor View, D.J. Williams and Ivy Dobson each won two events, and the Aggies swept the relays on the way to a 117.83-28.17 victory over Spring Valley.

Williams won the 110 hurdles (15.1) and the 300 hurdles (40.9). Dobson won the 400 in 49.2 and was first in the long jump with a mark of 21-7.

Thrower, Miners win meet

At Western, Alphonso Thrower won the 110 hurdles (16.6) and long jump (17-9½) to lead Sunrise Mountain to the win in a four-team meet.

The Miners had 108 points, followed by Faith Lutheran (68), Virgin Valley (55) and Western (38)

Western’s Kenric Davis won the 100 (10.5) and 200 (21.7).
